The economic downturn has not deterred large numbers of Britons from researching property abroad, recent figures have revealed.
According to data from property website Primelocation.com, Spain is attracting the most interest among prospective buyers of homes overseas.
Its monthly search destination breakdown showed that more than one in three inquiries were for property in Spain, where there is a wealth of popular holiday spots, such as the Costa Blanca.
France was the second most popular destination for UK investors, with 27 per cent of the searches targeted at the country.
Ann Wright, international development manager at Primelocation.com, commented: "Although the market is slow there are still buyers and investors out there with an interest in certain areas.
"Many will be looking to take advantage of the reduced property prices," she added.
This comes after Victor Sague, marketing director at Taylor Woodrow de Espana, told the Financial Times that confidence was starting to return to the real estate industry in Spain.
