Whether you love it or hate it you simply can't deny the buy to let opportunities that currently exist in the Spanish property market.
Turkey is a rising star, but Spain is still by far the most popular destination with British tourists, and rental incomes are set to increase this summer in the tourism hotspots, because of the combination of increasing tourism as the recession eases around the world, and because of the rising trend of people using the internet to build their own package holidays in privately rented apartments and villas.
So when you throw the 40%-60% discounted properties into that pot, you cannot fail to be mixing some really juicy buy to let soup.
Never before have I said this, but carefully chosen Spanish property is currently a very shrewd investment indeed.
Look for the areas that have kept most of their foreign flights, look for new flights coming in from eastern Europe and Asia, and choose a heavily discounted property (make sure it is discounted and not just below market value from a peak market) and you are onto a winning combination. The discount allows you to make the package more impressive by discounting your rental rates and still make a good yield.
If you like holidaying in Spain then the deal is even sweeter for you, because you get free quality accommodation for your own holidays as well as a sound investment.
If you have chosen carefully you should also start to see some capital appreciation, though according to pessimistic (arguably the most realistic) forecasts this could take 3-5 years to even begin.
