List of Airports in Turkey
There are a number of airports in Turkey with many of them serving the coastal resorts
of the Aegean Sea. Some of the more popular Turkish airports have been listed below
but we will be adding more together with links through to their official websites.
The capital is served by Istanbul Atatürk International Airport, reached form central Istanbul byt the E-5 or 0-1/0-2 motorways. There’s a light rail metro system linking the airport to Esenler metro and coach station, and Havas airport busses run to Taksim Square, in central Istanbul and to the bus terminal on demand. The journey time is about 40 minutes, and the fare is about YTL10 (US$0.55). Taxis are available from the rank outside the airport terminals.
There are three banks with Bureau de Change facilities and numerous ATMs available in the airport, and post offices are located in both the International and the Domestic Terminals. Paid-for internet access is also available at certain points throughout the terminals.
There are bars, snack bars and cafes, fast food outlets and restaurants at Istanbul Atatürk International, including a duty free shop, an authentic bazaar and gift shops. The airport has lifts and wheelchair-accessible toilets, but disabled passengers who expect to require assistance boarding their aircraft are recommended to contact their airlines prior to flight. A bridge taxi is available after passport control, and there is also a 24-hour pharmacy and first aid clinic, babycare rooms, a children’s play area and a hairdressers. The airport also contains six mosques, open twenty-four hours a day.
Antalya Havalimani Airport is located in south-west Turkey and is a key gateway to popular tourist destinations on the coastline. Its domestic and internal terminals are within walking distance of each other and the airport is reached by car via the E90 eastbound. Busses operate from 6:10AM until 1:10AM every 20 minutes between the airport and the city but this service is seasonal. In winter the taxi rank or the courtesy shuttles provided by hotels and resorts are happy to accommodate the extra passengers.
A Bureau de Change is situated in the International Arrivals area and a 24 hour bank is open in the International Departures area. ATMs can be found in both terminals. There are bars and cafes in both terminals and disabled lifts are available though passengers requiring assistance are advised to contact their airline. The airport’s other facilities include a children’s playroom, baby rooms and a well-staffed medical service.
