Overseas property buyers could find that there is an abundance of properties available in Turkey, particularly because many Britons are opting to sell-up in the country.
According to the Real Estate Counsellors Federation, large numbers of UK residents with holiday homes in Turkey are struggling in the economic downturn and are opting to sell their properties overseas.
This could provide opportunities for other investors to acquire homes in the country at a low price as vendors look for a quick sale.
Now could be a good time to purchase a home in Turkey because the government has announced that it will be involved in an advertising campaign to raise the profile of the country.
It is hoped that this will boost the number of visitors to Turkey from 23 million in 2008 to 30 million this year.
A recent study by Thomson put three Turkish destinations in a list of Europe's top ten holiday spots.
