Turkey has become a popular choice for those looking for investment properties overseas, it has been claimed.
The latest figures record that foreign buyers have spent in excess of $10 billion (£5.4 billion) in the last five years, reports Property Wire.
Orhun Ozdener Vahaboglu, a real estate agent based in Istanbul, noted that the value of coastal property in Turkey was rising because of the increased interest from foreigner purchasers.
He stated: "Turkey is a growing country with a lot of potential, as the European membership is a pending issue.
"As soon as this is realised, we may expect that the prices will double."
A recent article in the American Chronicle identified holiday homes in Turkey as providing excellent value for money for those looking for a base in the Mediterranean.
It also noted that extra income could be gained by renting out the property during the off-peak season or whenever it is not in use.
