In a recent survey of holidaymakers from the UK, resorts in Turkey scored highly and three made it into the top ten.
Travel firm Thomson rated vacation destinations around the world and the results showed that Turkish holidays are extremely popular with Britons, reports the Daily Mail.
Marmaris was the highest rated spot in Turkey for leisure travellers from the UK, coming in third, ahead of Playa Blanca in Lanzarote and Puerto Rico in Gran Canaria.
Icmeler and Altinkum in Turkey came in sixth and seventh, ahead of Paphos, Cyprus, Puerto Pollensa in Majorca and Tingaki in Kos.
Turkey is rapidly becoming one of the top tourist destinations for people from the UK, which means that overseas property investors could make a profit by renting out accommodation in popular places, such as Marmaris, Altinkum and Icmeler.
Income from holidaymakers is expanding in the country and in January the Turkish Board of Statistics revealed that tourism revenues were up 18.5 per cent in 2008 over 2007.
