britons attracted to uae because of exchange rate movements
News Posted On: 08 January 2009
Increasing numbers of British leisure travellers are likely to opt for breaks in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) this year, it has been claimed.
Lastminute.com stated that the declining value of the pound against the euro could have a big effect on the booking habits of holidaymakers.
It said that more Britons are likely to choose vacations in non-eurozone locations so that they get more for their pounds.
Andy Washington, spokesperson for Lastminute.com, commented: "Our customers are determined to keep on holidaying but they will watch their pennies."
He added that many holidaymakers will be looking for a foreign holiday that is not going to "break the bank".
Dubai was flagged up as a possible favourite for UK residents looking for a budget break this year.
This could be welcome news for investors with property to rent in the UAE as there is likely to be a sustained demand for housing.
The Post Office Travel Services said that Dubai should be one of the most popular mid-haul destinations in 2009.
